well finally after about 2 months of slowly reading, i have finally finished reading Roots.
this book is actually pretty good.
this book is about a family in america. its starts from this 16 year old boy named kunta kinte who is originaly from africa. the book tells of his life in the village, what he has to go through to be known as a man, and how he got abducted and shipped to america cause of the slave trade. the story continues with how the blacks were treated when they were slaves.
kunta, not wanting his family to forget where their origins are, starts telling his daughter about africa. eventually his daughter got sold off to another plantation and she passed down the stories to her offspring. the stories were passed down up till it reached the author of roots, alex haley. he decided to trace back his roots using the stories that were passed down through the generations.
its a really great story. i was told that this book was the book that changed americans point of view of the blacks.
but anyway this is just a short review. pick up the book. its good.
oh btw, reading is cool. if you don't read, you are not cool :D
