last night in langkawi

today, i was finally able to get out of the house after being cooped up at home for 3 and a half freaking days!

so yeah, it was jazli and sam's birthday today. happy birthday guys!

oh btw, not that you guys are interested to know, but my foot is really swollen.

so back to my final part of the langkawi trip.

after having a great time listening to the music, having a couple of drinks, and chilling out, we headed back to the room for our final and last night of drinking!

this night we finally opened the keg of Heineken beer that we got on the first day. had to cool it in the sink with ice, cuase our room didn't have a fridge.

so yeah, we had our drinking session with the rest of the group. this was the night that i was supposed to get pissed drunk, as i hardly drank the night before due to having too much fun laughing at the others and getting them drunk, but sadly, we ran outa booze. so i only ended up a little tipsy.

after everyone went to bed, me, min ern, mabel, and the sam from penang, went to take a walk on the beach towards casa del mar. this hotel was some really cool hotel man. we sneaked in there, jumped into their pool, and didn't want to come out as it was freaking cold. eventually we stole some dinner hankies thinggy and used it as blankets, and made our way back. it was really funny tho, as me and min ern went there while we were still tipsy, but the alcohol wore out eventually.

the next day, we all woke up freaking late and had to rush to the duty free shop, then to the jetty. the penangites car ran outa petrol, so we kinda got cut off from them as we were in a hurry. but they managed to get a lift to the petrol station eventually.

on the last kilometer to the jetty there was this really steep bridge, min ern was driving, and the car stopped right on the slope! this was a funny sight. min ern tried to get the car going again but couldn't. after about 5 minutes of trying, and causing a huge jam behind us, i switched with him and drove the car over the slope towards the jetty.

here is the sucky part. as we were in a freaking hurry, i didn't bother to put on my seat belt and was speeding all the way. about 500 meters before the jetty, there was a road block!

i mean the the hell! of all the times to have a road block, they had it when we were rushing to catch our boat. in the end the typical lines came up, "macam mana kamu nak settle?". this line is probably the most well used line by police officers! so the bargaining began. but since we were in a freaking hurry, we just gave in.

when we arrived at the jetty, we were already late for the boat. so we had to wait another hour for the next boat to get us. just enough time to catch the bus which leaves 10 minutes after we land in kuala perlis.

here are some pictures of us on the boat.
everyone was all tired out after rushing so much.

good bye langkawi!

when we arrived in kl, kealeng's dad picked us up and brought us for some well needed chicken rice dinner. finally it was time to say good bye and we all got home.

for kealeng, one of the reasons this trip was planned out. have a good time in the USA. don't study too hard, have loads of fun, and most importantly do remember to come back. SCROTUM!!

for min ern, i've known you for too freaking long man. love the jokes, the fun times irritating you and all that other shit that happens. don't forget to eat your veggies. SCRATCH!!

for samantha, it was great meeting you. fun times playing taboo with the others, in front of starbucks in the jetty in langkawi, which is in malaysia, which is located in asia, which is on a planet called earth, in the milkyway galaxy. hmmm... what else? SMILE!

here is to the good times, the really bad lame jokes that we had to take, the weird drunken accents that we had a good laugh about, the loads and loads of chocolates eaten, the fun times on the beach body surfing, the prancing and skipping of a drunken person around the resort, and all the other stuff that shouldn't be said.

here is to friendship and all that other bull crap that people say when they want to close up a good story/speech.

FUN ALL THE WAY GUYS!

so for those of you who didn't come support me and my team, you don't get ice cream. as for those of you who were there, come see me to get your ice cream.

more on the nutrilite double x challenge later on.

now back to the lake.

when we arrived at the lake, we were greeted by monkeys just hanging around the floating platforms which were the make shift land area on the lake. the floating platforms even comes together with a built in food store cum boat rental shop.

anyway, there was this little monkey which didn't seem to be scared of us humans. i managed to take it for a small walk holding its hands. hahaha! gosh, it sounds quite wrong.

i was even really tempted to push that little monkey over board into the lake. that would really be a funny sight. but i would probably need to jump in and save that little creature.

so anyway, besides taking little monkeys on walks, we took a dip in the lake. for your information, this is no ordinary lake. this lake looks like this:

so yeah, it was basically a super steep drop from where the water starts. min ern said he once tried to find the bottom, he swam down and down. after a while , he still had not found the bottom, and could not even see it. it was pitch black. finally he decided that even if he found it, he might nit like what he would find. i mean there could be monsters or even dead people down there!

so yeah, its that deep...

pretty scary actually. i never dared to put my head into the water and look down into the abyss. always had a fear of something coming out of dark places, especially water.

anyway! after awhile we decided it was time to rent some boats to go around the lake. everyone rented those slow solar powered leg paddler boats, while me and the other sam, samantha scully (there was 2 samanthas on our holiday) got a canoe.

after paddling awhile, me and sam met up with min ern's slow boat right i the middle of the lake. guess what min ern did. he jumped out of his boat, into the lake, swam to our canoe and sat at the back of the canoe.

this is what it looked like.

looks pretty funny. and he just sat there for hours as we took our tour around the lake.

so after playing around with the boats, we decided to head back. all that rowing in the huge lake was starting to get really boring.

but never the less, it was a really great place. a really great place to sit and just relax and enjoy nature. the lake was even surrounded by loads of limestone cliffs there that definitely has potential to be developed as a climbing site.

i await the day when people would start climbing at the lake.

anyway, we got onto the boat and set course for home. in other words the hotel!

after we got back, me, kea leng, min ern, and samantha(the one that came with us from KL) went to take a walk on cenang beach, which was the beach right opposite our hotel.

then we stumbled upon this really cool bar called chill out cafe. it was a hot day, and all of us desperately needed some cold beer and some shade. this place had everything we needed, a hammock, cool beer, and nice relaxing music from the 80s and 90s.

so yeah, we had nice cold beer and actually just sat and lazed around for about 2 hours and practically did nothing at all.

ok, so the name might be chill out cafe. i cant remember. notice the hut with a coconut tree growing out of it?

here are some picture of the place from my nice little hammock point of view.

so after our nice chill out time at chill out cafe/bar, me and kea leng went to do some body surfing! while min ern and sam took a nap. the waves weren't that big, but if you catch the right one at the right time, you can ride it. so i spent like 4 hours in the evening till it was dark body surfing. it was fun, especially when you manage to catch a wave. so anyway, after a while kea leng got tired of body surfing, so she left and i was joined by the others from penang shortly after. since i lived in a city which has no beaches nearby, i didn't mind swimming in the sea for a long time.

so after it got too dark to swim, i headed back to the room to get changed and the 4 of us from kl headed over to the reggae cafe for a drink.

it was a really cool place. it environment was real nice, the music was not really what i would listen to on a regular basis, but it was nevertheless relaxing.

here is a few pics of the place.

main entrance

the band that played reggae music. the guy on percussion, has freaking long dreads. its up to his knees!

can you spot anything unusual about the bar?

look again...

yes, what you see at the back of the bar is a notice board with bras stuck on to it. and on the top left hand corner there is a sign saying "let your breast breathe"

an australian flag, with a really weird caption saying "malaysia, australia jadi contoh toleransi masyarakat majmuk." i mean what the hell?! what kind of bull crap is that?

me and min ern having some drinks.

all of us. kea leng, sam, noel, and min ern.

so yeah, we had a really good time. seeing as this would be the last holiday that kealeng would be able to spend with us before she leaves for the US, it was good!

well this was one real long post. more on what happened after the reggae cafe on my next post.

here is a picture of kealeng for you to look at while you wait.

Sun, Sand and i don't surf...

so the answer to the question

What did the gang do after they settled in?

sadly, we did not start drinking straight away.

we went straight to the beach!

WHEE!! i love the beach!

so anyway, we hung around the place just chilling and practically doing nothing **what else are holidays for?**

here are a few pics of the whole group during dinner.

min ern, sam, kea leng, noel.

part of the other bunch of people from penang.

well after dinner, with our tummies all filled with food, we headed back to the rooms to start our fun drinking sessions.

*note: kea leng is totally wasted and taking a nap on the bed.

ok, there wasn't much photos. but i wasn't really in the mood to get wasted that day, so i had some fun pouring drinks for the rest and getting them drunk as hell.

min ern was one of them. when he gets high, he does this really weird impersonation of capt jack sparrow.

plus everything that comes out of his mouth doesn't seem to make any sense.

here is a video of one of those weird moments when everything he does and says doesn't seem to make any sense at all.

so anyways, after all that laughing and taking care of people who are totally wasted, we all just went to bed.

the next day we were all forced to wake up early and take a trip down to some small jetty which was close to awana porto malai.

so we hopped into the small boat and was on our way island hopping!

so the island hopping wasn't that great. actually let me rephrase that. IT TOTALLY SUCKED!!

i mean the places they brought us to was:

1. a place which was famous for its white sands
- i have no idea what was so famous about that place. the only thing there was to see was white rough sands, which totally sucked. when you walk into the water, its so painful to walk there because there were so much sharp broken shells on the ground. there were no fishes and there were no corals. only thing we could see there was monkeys humping each other. i mean seriously. we had to just burn 45 minutes of our time just to wait for the boat man to come pick us up and save us from that place.

**i was 5 seconds late. if i were just a little earlier, you would see 2 monkeys connected at the hip on that small mound right where that little tree is. instead you see 2 monkeys walking away after a great 10 seconds of pleasure.

2. pulau singa to watch eagles
- this is the place where people go to see the eagles that live on langkawi. the boatman would just stop in the middle of a cove, then throw some chicken guts into the sea to attract the eagles. sitting on the boat just watching the eagles was way more entertaining than the first place.

3. we went to tasik dayang bunting.
- this was basicly the highlight of the whole trip. there is some legend behind the lake, search it up if you want to know more about it. special thing about this lake is that its a fresh water lake which is located just 10 meters or less from the sea. and this lake is DEEP! like seriously deep. i would hate to jump into the water in the middle of the lake.

so anyways, on the way to the lake, we stopped by a point where we could see the mountains which was in the shape of a pregnant lady person lying down.

can you spot the pregnant lady?

see it now?

so we landed on dry land again. this time, we had to climb a long flight of stairs before we arrived at the lake.

so in the next post.

What happens at the lake?

did someone drown?

were we attacked by monkeys?

was there a sea monster in the lake?

all that would be revealed on my next post. in the mean time here is a picture of a monkey for you to look at.

oh btw, i forgot to mention. we came up with a nickname for kea leng. it was scro-tum. we even wanted to make little beer cups and label it with that nick name.

in the land of duty free rum

well the answer to the question is...

A FLYING MONKEY!!!!

hahaha... ok, thats just lame.

well here is the answer.

after finally being able to set foot on land after a super long voyage which took 2 super uber long hours, we walked around the jetty place because we had to wait for some friends who were going to join us from penang.

so we walked around and finally stumbled upon the infamous giant eagle which lives just 50 meters away from the jetty building in langkawi.

what did i do?

ok, i climbed the eagle...

yeah, so thats the answer to your question.

anyway, after getting a few shots with the giant eagle under the freaking hot sun, the four of us decided to head back to the cool of the jetty building.

we had to wait four hours for the penangites to arrive. so we walked, played taboo in coffee bean, went to the arcade and sat around allot. suddenly, i realised that i didn't have a pair of flip flops. the only foot wear i brought there was my really ugly yellow crocs.

i have no idea why i even wear them. maybe its because its the only slipper that i own.

so anyway, i made my way over to a shop in the jetty building, and decided to look for the cheapest pair of flip flops that i could find. guess what i found...

a freaking pair of chippo flip flops!

i mean what the hell! it was just what i was looking for, a pair of cheap flip flops which is so cheap that even the brand says that its cheap. but never the less this pair of flip flops do look good. well besides the fact that the printings tend to come out when you wear it. it was still good.

here is the bad part about this really cool pair of chippos. when i decided to put it on to go to the beach, i only took a really short 7 seconds for it to break....

i seriously kid you not. it was so cheap that it broke within less than 10 seconds. i mean what the hell?! if you want to make a slipper, at least make one that would last long enough for at least a one way trip to the beach.

ok, going a little off track there. now i'm going to confuse you guys with which part of the story we are at now. so anyway we are still at the jetty waiting for the penang char kuey teow eating people to arrive.

so yeah, when they finally arrived we got introduced, because they were all samantha's friends, and we had never met them before. there were about 8 of them i think, so that made our group swell to a whopping twelve people!

so after the introductions, we all trotted down to the car rental place and got 2 proton sagas. when i looked at the receipt that i got, it was so funny.

look at what it says at the bottom. the booze must be really cheap here huh...

anyway, we had lunch, bought our supply of freaking cheap booze and chocolates, then headed over to the hotel which was situated at the great chenang beach!

i was so relieved to finally be able to see the beach. finally the holiday began! as we were walking to our rooms, some fat malay lady told us to look up. so being the tourist that we are, wanting to see everything, we looked up.

want to know what we saw?

was it an aeroplane?
was it a helicopter?
was it a bird?
or was it superman flying in the sky nude?

well what we saw was the SUN!

but this was no ordinary sun, this sun had a ring around it.

whats better was it isn't some ordinary ring, it was a ring made out of rainbows!

still cant picture that in your mind? well here is what it looked like.

apparently its some really rare phenomenon which i could not be bothered to find out what its called.

so yeah, we all saw a huge ring around the sun. it was so huge, that it couldn't fit in my camera.

well this is where this entry is going to end. next up,

what did the gang do after they settled in?

more of that in the next entry.

finally the langkawi post.

well finally after a long time of not being in the mood to blog, i have finally got around to do it.

i recently just got back from a trip to the east coast. it was a really educational trip, went to meet loads of old relatives, visited old family mansion homes, and of course some climbing. but this post ain't about all that. this post is about my long delayed langkawi post.

our plan was to take a bus to kuala perlis, then take a ferry to langkawi. but guess what, being the teenagers we are, we did not arrange for transport to the bus station up till the last minute. so we called in a favour from an old friend.

ROBIN!

and also being the teenagers that we are, we also lost our way and almost missed the bus. had we been 5 minutes later, we would have totally missed the bus. so anyway the bus trip took around 7 hours!

FREAKING LONG RITE! next time i'll fly there.

anyway, the bus was cold, and the seats were on lah.

as usual we had to take a few shots to document the whole trip.

after the freaking long bus ride, we were dropped off at a bus station 5 minutes away from the jetty. funny thing was that when we got off the bus, we were all blur and stuff, this man came to the entrance asking "siapa pergi ke langkawi?" and min ern just came to him and said "ya saya pergi ke langkawi"

it turned out that this guy was some agent that people go to when they want to go for a holiday. we sat down and talked about which hotel to stay at, how much would it be to rent a car, island hopping, etc. funny thing was, we already had made arrangements with a guy called azlan. he booked the hotels for us and stuff. when i got out of the bus, all blur and sleepy, i actually thought that this guy was azlan. so we sat and chatted discussing the prices and was almost convinced to follow this agent.

then suddenly, azlan called me. and i was like "oh shit! its azlan!" and was contemplating if i should pick up the phone. eventually when i did, it turned out that azlan was at that same bus terminal. he was wondering where we were, and when he found out that we were the people sitting on the table right across the terminal, he got pissed.

so he came walking towards us shouting at the other agent saying "mana boleh macam ni?! sayasudah buat booking dengan hotel" etc. eventually we decided heck, lets forget about the fat impostor and just stick with azlan.

after discussing the prices for the trip, we headed off to the jetty and got a boat to the beautiful duty free island of langkawi!

the boat trip took us about 2 hours. and the boat was moving really slow. after awhile we decided to move to the front of the boat to get a better view and also for some fresh air.

after the 2 hours we finally arrived at the jetty in langkawi!

in my next post, i'll tell you what happened in langkawi.

while waiting, here is a teaser.

what happenes when you put

and

together?
