it's been a while

oh mannnn.... its been like so freaking long since i last made a damn post here.

want to know why i have't been updating?

it's alittle stupid, but the answer is becuase i've been spending most of my time on the computer looking at reviews on dSLR cameras.

ITS SO FREAKING HARD TO DECIDE WHICH CAMERA TO GET!!! ARGH!! i feel like pulling my hair out!

so here is an update on what has happened recently.

recently i've finally got off my crutches.
recently i've been super busy with work
recently i've not had enough sleep
recently i've changed my mind like 5 thousand times on which camera i wanna get.
recently i am starting to get really itchy as i am not able to climb

and i think thats it.

festival tang long

ok, so yesterday was the lentern festival. quite a boring festival if you just sit at home and not do anything. but if you do go out, you could have some fun.

just incase you guys didn't know, carroling practice also started yesterday. so for those of you who should be coming **cough** sandra** cough**, you better come.

practice times are as bellow.

hope you guys like me very beautiful handwriting. btw, i purposely spelled caroling with a double 'r'.

so yeah, yesterday i went for caroling practice last night. it was really nice to be able to sing the christmas carols again. always loved singing, especially during christmas.

so anyway, after all that singing, and stuff, me and ted went over to meet sandra and slim at some park in BU. it was supposed to be a lantern festival, but we had no lanterns, only candles and sparklets and firecrackers that scared the hell outa me.

so here are some stuff that we did with the sparklets (stolen from sandra's blog)

a star!
ok, you know girls, them and their hearts and stuff. this are all such unmanly stuff to be posting on my blog.
are you starting to get hypnotised?

ok, after all that we dropped slim back home, then the rest of us headed over to TTDI Plaza. its actually quite a cool place. i think i'm going to start hanging around there more often.

so anyway, we went to this place called

and you know what? it's actually being ran by an old classmate of mine.

SHALINA!!

so anyway, it was a good chill out place. only bad thing was that they only sell beer from bottles. urgh...

so here are pics of us.

and lastly
a poser shot of sandra.... wahHhhahaa!

little things in life

here is a really interesting question that i came across recently.

when was the last time you enjoyed the little things in life?

when i see a question like this, i start to think, what exactly are the little things in my life?

the little things that matters to one person might not be the same compared to others. thats because everyone has their own life experiences and different point of views.

next time some a-hole cuts you off while driving and you feel like it's your duty to run him off the road and end his miserable existence... pause; take a breath; realize "ya know, i'm alive, and in good health" ... resume driving responsibly, because small twits on the road aren't worth big hassles.

when you're sitting on a bench with your friends or family and one of them can't keep from twitching their leg non-stop (restless leg syndrome), instead of fussing at them, just smile to yourself and think that it's damn good to have friends like them around even if their annoying habits piss you off once in a while.

ever looked up at the sky at night and think about how small we are in the vastness of space? have you ever just looked up and stared at the clouds for a few minutes just to enjoy the view and relax? when was the last time that you just sat down in front of a busy street, with people walking by, and thinking to your self "how lucky i am to be able to just sit and watch people and time go by" ... when was the last time you sat at the dinner table with your family and was just thankfull that everyone is safe and just enjoying the time together?

so when was the last time YOU enjoyed the little things in life?

good bye friends

well just recently, there have been 2 friends of mine that are leaving for the uk to further their studies.

jasmine just left for the uk 2 days ago, and caroline, whose flight leaves in about an hours time.

for jasmine.

its been really great knowing you. for all the times you hung out with me when everyone else was way to busy to go out with me. for all the lame jokes that you come up with. for all the times you did things that were so freaking lame and funny. for all the times we went to hartamas for shisha. for all the times you got angry at me for being too irritating. for inviting me to your prom when my social life was practically dead. for the times you brightened up my day by doing something really random. most of all for being a really great friend.

i would like to say THANK YOU!

have a great time in the uk. study hard, play hard, and most of all have the time of your life.

i'm going to miss having you around.

for caroline.

ok that was the closest picture i had with almost only the 2 of us in it.

again, it has been really great knowing you. i remember when you were climbing at camp5, one day you walked in with a freaking mohawk! i mean that was freaking cool!

for all the times that we went waltzing over to baskin robins for an ice cream. for the times when we would argue over me not allowing you to go for breaks, and you saying that you don't have to listen because you are a duty marshall too. for the time we went for cosmic funk expresses last performance. for recommending me the world class chocolate flavour. for the times when you would correct my grammar mistakes. for the ice cream that you got for me when i was stuck at home with a sprained foot. for those random drawings that you would make when you were bored. most of all for bring a friend.

again, i would like to say THANK YOU!

have fun learning about where we came from and what people believe in. get wasted, make loads of friends, and most of all enjoy yourself.

going to miss having you around. see you next year in KRABI!!!

Nutrilite Double X Challenge

this is a little outdated.

last week, i competed in the finals of the nutrilite double x challenge.

here is sandra's post of the event, and here is my previous post from the preliminaries.

this competition comprised of 4 main challenges, with an additional 3-6 mini challenges within each main challenge.

this was no easy task. i would elaborate more on what was in each challenge, but i seem to be too addicted to watching the history channel about rome. it is really cool to watch. they had documentaries of the great architectural structures of rome, and who built them. you guys should watch it some time, its really good to know.

anyway back to the challenges. what i will tell you is that the challenges involved a lot of running, pulling, team work and brains. the last challenge was an obstacle course.

so we headed over to the saujana, for our 2 night complimentary stay. when we arrived at the hotel, there was this banner to greet us.

after settling in, we sat in for the briefing of the challenges that we were about to undertake the next day. it was real long, full of questions and quite boring actually, because everyone wanted to be absolutely sure about what was supposed to happen. if the main prize wasn't 20k, i probably would have just nodded off.

next up was some welcome dinner. as there were people from all around malaysia, namely KL, kuantan, penang, johor, and miri, they had to make us all feel comfortable. so there were loads of food, games and lucky draws.

one this irritating about the dinner, was that the MC was this real emo lady. i mean i wouldn't really mind if she was hot, but she was quite fat and shitty looking. the jokes she came up with were also really dumb and lame.

one example of a really emo moment was when they had this game, which each table competes with another. the challenge was to blow up a balloon until it bursts. once all the balloons on the table bursts, the table wins. thing is, she said that we have to use team work! so what we did was we blew it a little and just used our hands to burst the balloons. when we did this, she got so red like a tomato and really emo. so our table got disqualified for doing that. but i mean WTH?! she said use team work. how can it be team work if everyone blows their own balloon?

after all that drama, had some lucky draws and i won a bum watch which i gave to my brother. next we drew lots to see which team would go first etc. our team was number 9. so out of 10 teams, we were the last group to compete. the 10th team was the other team from KL. good for us, as we can watch other teams perform the tasks.

so anyway, after dinner we went back, planned our strategy. on our way back, we stumbled upon this huge poster in the next room.

i find it really cool, cuase its actually a 60th birthday party poster from this family to their dad. seems that their dad used to be a pilot. its all in those little pictures around that big picture. its like a big poster that tells the life story of the birthday boy.

after all that, we planned out strategy and went to bed as we would need our strength.

so anyway, our team name was elite 4, and the team comprised of me, dhayang, jonathan, and primo.

the next day we were transported to padang timur, which was the field opposite amcorp mall, by bus. there, we were joined by our supporters megan, sandra, sheyna, kristy, shery mae. these girls braved the hot burning sun and stayed practically the whole day from morning till evening to support us. thanks girls. oh, chee seng was there too.

so we had to wait super long for our turn to come up, as we were the last group. in the mean time, we had some warm up session by some dance instructor lady, there were the dynamites from DJ which were there to perform and liven up the event.

here are a few pictures of the event. the camera was mostly with sandra, so there was loads of cam whoring. be warned!

a cool morning shot of the skyline at the field.

a big TV!!

sheyna and sandra

sandra and megan

mae posing. well no idea if she is actually. could be some random candid shot.

picture of the field from ground level.

picture of field on paper. F1, F2, F3, F4 represents the different areas each challenges are taking place. the whole length of the field is about 200m

all the teams lined up.

the dancing/warm up part.

primo and jonathan after we finished all the challenges.

me with my retarded hair.

me and primo. we were not so in love that we were walking around like that. i had an injured foot. more on that later.

a picture with all the participants. spot me!

the winners of the competition. i've got a retarded look here.

so here are a 2 videos of one of the challenges.

i'm kinda lazy to explain whats going on in the videos. but one thing is for certain, the girls were cheering really loudly!

so yeah, we came in second and won 12k. so thats 3k each. really depressing tho. second place is so close to first place. first place prize was 20k. that would equal to 5k a person!

now here is the story for the last challenge. in all the previous challenges, we ran and ran so much that my legs couldn't take it anymore that they started cramping up. it was so bad that i totally couldn't walk. if i straightened my legs, it would just lock up, stiff and straight. so the remedy was to use loads and loads of deep heat. i think i probably finished up like 2 whole tubes of deep heat.

so anyway, i had to push myself and actually wanted to die from the cramps. but still, had to push on man!

so on the last obstacle in the obstacle course, we had this 2 meter high vertical wall with a platform at the top. we had to get everyone on it by pushing, pulling or throwing. after we got on it, we had to swing from a trapeze and land on freaking lousy mattresses. when i swung, i didn't land properly and hurt my ankle. had to crawl to the finishing line so they could stop the timer.

bear in mind, that i did the obstacle course while i had real bad cramps. that means i could hardly walk at all. thanks to the team, i made it through.

all in all it was not bad. we only paid 20 ringgit and we got repaid back like 2000 X more that what we paid. the 20 ringgit paid for all the free buffet food in the hotel, 2 night stay in a 5 star hotel, transportation costs, and some other stuff which i can't remember.

ok this post is getting too long.

over and out.

last night in langkawi

today, i was finally able to get out of the house after being cooped up at home for 3 and a half freaking days!

so yeah, it was jazli and sam's birthday today. happy birthday guys!

oh btw, not that you guys are interested to know, but my foot is really swollen.

so back to my final part of the langkawi trip.

after having a great time listening to the music, having a couple of drinks, and chilling out, we headed back to the room for our final and last night of drinking!

this night we finally opened the keg of Heineken beer that we got on the first day. had to cool it in the sink with ice, cuase our room didn't have a fridge.

so yeah, we had our drinking session with the rest of the group. this was the night that i was supposed to get pissed drunk, as i hardly drank the night before due to having too much fun laughing at the others and getting them drunk, but sadly, we ran outa booze. so i only ended up a little tipsy.

after everyone went to bed, me, min ern, mabel, and the sam from penang, went to take a walk on the beach towards casa del mar. this hotel was some really cool hotel man. we sneaked in there, jumped into their pool, and didn't want to come out as it was freaking cold. eventually we stole some dinner hankies thinggy and used it as blankets, and made our way back. it was really funny tho, as me and min ern went there while we were still tipsy, but the alcohol wore out eventually.

the next day, we all woke up freaking late and had to rush to the duty free shop, then to the jetty. the penangites car ran outa petrol, so we kinda got cut off from them as we were in a hurry. but they managed to get a lift to the petrol station eventually.

on the last kilometer to the jetty there was this really steep bridge, min ern was driving, and the car stopped right on the slope! this was a funny sight. min ern tried to get the car going again but couldn't. after about 5 minutes of trying, and causing a huge jam behind us, i switched with him and drove the car over the slope towards the jetty.

here is the sucky part. as we were in a freaking hurry, i didn't bother to put on my seat belt and was speeding all the way. about 500 meters before the jetty, there was a road block!

i mean the the hell! of all the times to have a road block, they had it when we were rushing to catch our boat. in the end the typical lines came up, "macam mana kamu nak settle?". this line is probably the most well used line by police officers! so the bargaining began. but since we were in a freaking hurry, we just gave in.

when we arrived at the jetty, we were already late for the boat. so we had to wait another hour for the next boat to get us. just enough time to catch the bus which leaves 10 minutes after we land in kuala perlis.

here are some pictures of us on the boat.
everyone was all tired out after rushing so much.

good bye langkawi!

when we arrived in kl, kealeng's dad picked us up and brought us for some well needed chicken rice dinner. finally it was time to say good bye and we all got home.

for kealeng, one of the reasons this trip was planned out. have a good time in the USA. don't study too hard, have loads of fun, and most importantly do remember to come back. SCROTUM!!

for min ern, i've known you for too freaking long man. love the jokes, the fun times irritating you and all that other shit that happens. don't forget to eat your veggies. SCRATCH!!

for samantha, it was great meeting you. fun times playing taboo with the others, in front of starbucks in the jetty in langkawi, which is in malaysia, which is located in asia, which is on a planet called earth, in the milkyway galaxy. hmmm... what else? SMILE!

here is to the good times, the really bad lame jokes that we had to take, the weird drunken accents that we had a good laugh about, the loads and loads of chocolates eaten, the fun times on the beach body surfing, the prancing and skipping of a drunken person around the resort, and all the other stuff that shouldn't be said.

here is to friendship and all that other bull crap that people say when they want to close up a good story/speech.

FUN ALL THE WAY GUYS!

Langkawi, langkawi, langkawi...

well, before i continue on with my langkawi post, im going to post an update on the double x challenge.

WE GOT FREAKING SECOND PLACE!!!!

Thats 12k in our pockets!

its not 20k, but at least its as close as it gets. BUT ITS FREAKING SHITTY MAN! second place is sooooo close to first place! but what the heck.

oh btw i also got a free sprained ankle out of this competition. not bad eh?

so for those of you who didn't come support me and my team, you don't get ice cream. as for those of you who were there, come see me to get your ice cream.

more on the nutrilite double x challenge later on.

now back to the lake.

when we arrived at the lake, we were greeted by monkeys just hanging around the floating platforms which were the make shift land area on the lake. the floating platforms even comes together with a built in food store cum boat rental shop.

anyway, there was this little monkey which didn't seem to be scared of us humans. i managed to take it for a small walk holding its hands. hahaha! gosh, it sounds quite wrong.

i was even really tempted to push that little monkey over board into the lake. that would really be a funny sight. but i would probably need to jump in and save that little creature.

so anyway, besides taking little monkeys on walks, we took a dip in the lake. for your information, this is no ordinary lake. this lake looks like this:

so yeah, it was basically a super steep drop from where the water starts. min ern said he once tried to find the bottom, he swam down and down. after a while , he still had not found the bottom, and could not even see it. it was pitch black. finally he decided that even if he found it, he might nit like what he would find. i mean there could be monsters or even dead people down there!

so yeah, its that deep...

pretty scary actually. i never dared to put my head into the water and look down into the abyss. always had a fear of something coming out of dark places, especially water.

anyway! after awhile we decided it was time to rent some boats to go around the lake. everyone rented those slow solar powered leg paddler boats, while me and the other sam, samantha scully (there was 2 samanthas on our holiday) got a canoe.

after paddling awhile, me and sam met up with min ern's slow boat right i the middle of the lake. guess what min ern did. he jumped out of his boat, into the lake, swam to our canoe and sat at the back of the canoe.

this is what it looked like.

looks pretty funny. and he just sat there for hours as we took our tour around the lake.

so after playing around with the boats, we decided to head back. all that rowing in the huge lake was starting to get really boring.

but never the less, it was a really great place. a really great place to sit and just relax and enjoy nature. the lake was even surrounded by loads of limestone cliffs there that definitely has potential to be developed as a climbing site.

i await the day when people would start climbing at the lake.

anyway, we got onto the boat and set course for home. in other words the hotel!

after we got back, me, kea leng, min ern, and samantha(the one that came with us from KL) went to take a walk on cenang beach, which was the beach right opposite our hotel.

then we stumbled upon this really cool bar called chill out cafe. it was a hot day, and all of us desperately needed some cold beer and some shade. this place had everything we needed, a hammock, cool beer, and nice relaxing music from the 80s and 90s.

so yeah, we had nice cold beer and actually just sat and lazed around for about 2 hours and practically did nothing at all.

ok, so the name might be chill out cafe. i cant remember. notice the hut with a coconut tree growing out of it?

here are some picture of the place from my nice little hammock point of view.

so after our nice chill out time at chill out cafe/bar, me and kea leng went to do some body surfing! while min ern and sam took a nap. the waves weren't that big, but if you catch the right one at the right time, you can ride it. so i spent like 4 hours in the evening till it was dark body surfing. it was fun, especially when you manage to catch a wave. so anyway, after a while kea leng got tired of body surfing, so she left and i was joined by the others from penang shortly after. since i lived in a city which has no beaches nearby, i didn't mind swimming in the sea for a long time.

so after it got too dark to swim, i headed back to the room to get changed and the 4 of us from kl headed over to the reggae cafe for a drink.

it was a really cool place. it environment was real nice, the music was not really what i would listen to on a regular basis, but it was nevertheless relaxing.

here is a few pics of the place.

main entrance

the band that played reggae music. the guy on percussion, has freaking long dreads. its up to his knees!

can you spot anything unusual about the bar?

look again...

yes, what you see at the back of the bar is a notice board with bras stuck on to it. and on the top left hand corner there is a sign saying "let your breast breathe"

an australian flag, with a really weird caption saying "malaysia, australia jadi contoh toleransi masyarakat majmuk." i mean what the hell?! what kind of bull crap is that?

me and min ern having some drinks.

all of us. kea leng, sam, noel, and min ern.

so yeah, we had a really good time. seeing as this would be the last holiday that kealeng would be able to spend with us before she leaves for the US, it was good!

well this was one real long post. more on what happened after the reggae cafe on my next post.

here is a picture of kealeng for you to look at while you wait.
