just a while ago, i was reading this blog entry on donuts.
well i know what you are saying. you are probably thinking that you have tasted food that are better tasting than donuts.
well you think wrong! why? well because probably the only high class/ nice doughnut the average joe in malaysia has eaten is probably from dunkin donuts. not to sound really bad, but dunkin's donuts really suck.
1. they are not that fresh
2. they don't taste that good
3. no one really likes them
4. people who like them never had real donuts before
5. even the police, who are suppose to eat donuts, don't eat them
6. i don't like them
7. i've had better donuts!
during a trip i had to jakarta, indonesia for a camp with the AKLTG people, we sated in a condo which was on top of this huge shopping complex. in this huge little shopping complex, on the lower ground floor, there is this huge little shop called J.CO donuts & coffee.
and man, the lines to buy donuts at this place is almost endless. at every hour of the day there would be at least 20 people in the que. behind the huge pile of donuts on display, is their donut factory.
YES, they do make the donuts right in front of you so you can see them. the donuts move through the conveyor belts which lead to a waterfall sort of thing where it puts the topping of cream on the donuts. its so freaking cool! they have so many flavours. among those that i have tried are
ok, so the pics don't look that good. i would show you a picture of the donuts i bought at that time, but i kinda ate em all up before i had the chance to take a photo.
just imagine, a donut which is so fresh that it is so soft. the smooth creamy toppings which you can practically smell from a mile away. as you take a bite in one of the donuts, the dough used in the donuts are so soft that it practically melts in your mouth. as you sink your teeth into the donut, you can feel the chocolate, which is so thick and creamy, gush out from where you bit the doughut. and... and... ARGH!!! i can't continue. typing this is actually making my tummy rumble and my mouth water.
anyway, guess who was beside the J.CO shop.
well its non other than our dear dunkin donuts. dunkin donuts was practically empty. hardly anyone there at all. i really had no idea how they survived in that huge little shopping mall. especially when they are located right beside such a good donut competitor. i mean there were people in dunkin donuts. but i bet they are the people who just couldn't be bothered to line up for good donuts. i mean how can a business expect to survive on the scraps of another business' customers?
well yeah, i crave for donuts that i can't get unless i fly down to another country. they really should open up a franchise of these great doughnuts here in malaysia. it would probably be crazier then the roti boy craze of 2003, when roti boy first opened up in 1 utama. but difference is, i but the business would actually stay that way for a long time.
well besides donuts, i also crave to climb! haven't climbed for a while. only managed to climb a little after work today. well guess i'll be satisfying this crave tomorrow! its climbing day tomorrow! woohoo!!
here is a pic of some other dish i had in indonesia.
good. if you go to what is it? well it is fried bananas on a stick, with chocolate and cheese on top. this is seriousllyjakarta, do search for this. in jakarta you can find almost anything with cheese and chocolate on top of it. i even had toast flooded with cheese and chocolate! really cool!
oh and in jakarta, they even have people busking around near the warungs at night. these aren't regular buskers, these people come in groups of 3-10 people. the group that performed for me and my friends were a group of about 8 people. their instruments, 3 guitars playing different parts, a home made drum set(it was seriously cool. sounded just like a real drum set), tamborines, and the almost all of them sang. they sounded uber good!
oh well guess thats it. now what im craving for is sleep. cause why? its late.
guess it ends here. good morning.
